Imagine watching your favorite movie or listening to your favorite song. Now, imagine watching that movie or listening to that song over and over again – after several days, the entertainment value is lost and cast aside. This is what happens to those individuals who choose the same workout, without variation.
In order to maximize the benefit of our workouts it is important to add variety. Don’t be afraid to ask a fitness trainer for advice or guidance if you have questions on how you can add some spice to your routine. You should try to change things up on a regular basis; jog an extra 5 minutes, add a few more flights on the Stair Master, or do a few more squats than in previous workouts. You may want to change what you’re doing completely – alternating between biking, running, strength training, or adding incline to your treadmill routine. By adding variety to your workout routine, you will keep your body guessing and force it to adapt to different stimuli. You will be amazed by the difference you’ll feel! Adding variety to your daily workout will be like listening to a fresh new song on the radio. Having fitness goals is important and reaching them can be a struggle, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun along the way. Keep working hard and enjoy the journey.
